Ways To Give

Flexible and Responsive – Giving to the Canadian Medical Foundation

Feature filmToday, in a world where choice, not tradition, dictates how and where physicians give to the causes they care about, the Canadian Medical Foundation offers enormous flexibility and options to our donors. We strive to be the logical choice in philanthropy for physicians in Canada, and are proud to offer a variety of plans and programs.

Gifts can be made in these forms:

  • Cash Gifts: Tax deductible gifts can be made by cheque or credit card.

  • Appreciated Securities: Gifts of shares, mutual funds, segregated fund shares, bonds, warrants and options listed on Canadian or major international exchanges; all gifts of this kind qualify for tax credit.

  • Planned Gifts: We offer a number of options for donors to bequeath specific dollar amounts, assets or trust income. Bequests can be undesignated, directed to a specific CMF program or designated for a Donor-advised Fund; significant tax advantages can be realized.

  • Insurance Policies: Donors can create new policies naming the CMF as both owner and beneficiary or designate the CMF as the owner and beneficiary of an existing policy. Donors can also retain ownership of existing policies and designate the CMF as the beneficiary.

Our donors provided over $2.6 million in total giving in 2007, including more than $1 million in gifts of appreciated securities. We were also able to create a number of special funds and bursaries by creating Donor-advised Funds, and welcomed over 800 new donors through our annual program. We encourage you to contact the CMF today, and allow us to help you develop a philanthropic approach that meets both your needs and your goals.
