Why are these people smiling?
The Canadian Medical Foundation, through our partner Rev+ (Reponsabilité, Espoir, Vie Solidarité) delivers on a promise!
In Burkina Faso, patient’s requiring ARV (antiretroviral) treatment for HIV/AIDS are often unable to make the long trek to the nearest healthcare facility. The Canadian Medical Foundation distributed 15 bicycle ambulances to local community organizations.
The homecare volunteers and counsellors of Rev+ from the outreach areas use the bikes to visit patients. Our objective is to increase 6000 home and hospital visits over 12 months. Or as this picture shows, patients borrow the bicycles to and from their village. The humble bicycle saves lives!
