The Canadian Medical Foundation is supporting the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) to help provide relief in Haiti. Since the devastating earthquake which struck on January 12th, SOGC's partners at la Société haïtienne d'obstétrique et de gynécologie (SHOG) have been working to quickly reestablish and expand the services of the Maternity Unit of Croix des Bouquets Heath Center in order to continue providing maternal and infant health services to women in Haiti.

This unprecedented fundraising effort has been undertaken by The Canadian Medical Foundation to give Canadian physicians, like you a chance to help colleagues on the ground in Haiti as they help families and children devastated by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake on January 13th 2010.
Immediate Need: Funds are needed to support partner organizations with the experience, resources, and infrastructures already in place to respond rapidly and effectively in Haiti. The Canadian Medical Foundation will be providing immediate support to Canadian physicians currently working on the ground in Haiti directly and through partner organizations.
Future Medical Outreach: Medical Outreach is a core program of The Canadian Medical Foundation. Funds are needed to support outreach programs that will be required after the emergency relief has ended. We believe that our ability to fund outreach programs in the longer term is key to the long term sustainability of healthcare in Haiti.
Make your gift by February 12th 2010 and it will be doubled. The Government of Canada will match dollar for dollar the contributions of individual Canadians to registered charities in support of humanitarian, recovery, and reconstruction efforts in response to the earthquake in Haiti, up to a total of $50 million.
