Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the CMF has been supporting projects in Haiti, including rebuilding a maternity ward, supporting spinal cord injury victims of the earthquake, and sending essential medications, including cholera medications, to the most critically affected areas.
Team Canada Healing Hands
Dr. Colleen O’Connell has healing hands…literally. Since founding Team Canada Healing Hands (TCHH) in 2003, Dr. O’Connell has been in Haiti providing training, mentorship and hands-on rehabilitation care to her Haitian colleagues and their patients. The team of volunteer physicians has positively impacted the lives of persons with Spinal Cord Injury and other disabling conditions. At two years post earthquake, we are proud to report that Healing Hands continues to engage in capacity-building initiatives in this country, and that we are committed to working towards the achieving sustainable rehabilitation training and care services in Haiti.
